Purple Thai Regular Seeds Overview

Thailand. The land of smiles, beautiful beaches, amazing nightlife, and more recently its shift in policy regarding recreational cannabis. And with this shift in weed legality has come some amazing new Thai strains, the pick of the bunch being the gorgeous Purple Thai seeds.

This mostly Sativa hybrid (80%/20% Sativa/Indica) offers a potency range of 20-24% THC, a huge range of coloration possibilities, and a much faster flowering period than most Sativa-heavy cultivars. Perfect for both indoor and outdoor cultivation situations, and the ability to flourish in a range of climatic conditions, Purple Thai is the type of strain that should be near the top of every grower's wish list.

What are the effects of Purple Thai weed?

Thanks to the ancestor of Oaxacan Gold and Chocolate Thai, Purple Thai truly is a best-of-both-worlds type of seed. While the Sativa dominance is in full effect, the slight amount of Indica genetics helps to really round the high out.

Starting out with that classically Sativa uplifting heady punch that we all know and love, things are nicely rounded out and well balanced with a sprinkling of Indica body relaxation, but proceed with caution! If you are a novice smoker it's best to dip your toes rather than diving in head first with Purple Thai, as the overwhelmingly cerebral ride can be just a little much for newbies when consumed in larger doses.

How to grow Purple Thai Regular seeds?

Sativas have a reputation for being a little tougher to grow than their Indica cousins, but that is just not the case with Purple Thai weed seeds. While they do take on the classic Sativa structure, growing up to 220 cm tall, the flowering period of just 8-10 weeks ensures that you don’t have to wait for an age for harvest to come around (with yields of between 400-500gr/m²).

Furthermore, Purple Thai loves a wide variety of climates and is particularly well suited for those looking to cultivate outdoors in warmer and more humid areas such as Southeast Asia or the Mediterranean. To control the height, and to ensure the largest yields possible, we definitely recommend running the crop with some stress training techniques implemented. Topping the plants will help keep the size down, while also opening up the canopy and keeping the flowering sites at a more consistent height. This is boosted by running Purple Thai plants under a ScrOG net once topped, and spreading the budding areas out as much as possible.

Purple Thai strain appearance and aroma

In terms of looks, the name kinda says it all. Along with the usual Thai bud shape comes a deep purple coloration that can range from a light lavender to an almost black, depending on the overnight temps. Neon bright yellow-orange pistils appear throughout the flowering period and only get more obvious as the plants mature. Resin production is at an all-time high with Purple Thai.

Fragrance-wise, Purple Thai seeds are floral, spicy, and earthy in equal parts. Although these aromas can vary depending on the particular phenotype of your crop, a spicy and floral sweetness is usually the main attraction.

MSNL Editors Verdict

There are very few strains on the market that will actually offer purple hues time and time again, but Purple Thai is just so consistent on this front. Heavy hitting in terms of THC, easy to cultivate in a wide range of conditions, and with an aroma to die for - there’s no denying that this is a great choice for both novice and experienced growers alike.

What does Purple Thai taste like?

Purple Thai tastes almost identical to the aroma profile, but with one big difference. Thanks to the Chocolate Thai heritage, the deliciously velvety and rich cocoa undertones shine through with ease and help bolster the already intense floral and spicy nature of the strain.

It is worth noting that the intensity of this flavor profile can be a little overwhelmingly powerful, but for the experienced cannabis connoisseurs out there this is more of an advantage than a downside. Tasty, heavy, powerful, and delicious all at the same time, and a perfect accompaniment to any morning or afternoon - especially if the sun is shining.
