The Blueberry Widow strain is a cross between White Widow and Blueberry. Both of these strains are well-known and acclaimed for their effects, aromas, and appearance. In fact, White Widow won first place at the High Times Cannabis Cup Awards in 1995, and Blueberry won for Best Indica in 2000 then placed in the 2002 Cannabis Cup. Blueberry Widow, or Berry White as it's sometimes called, is an Indica-dominant hybrid that acquired some of the best genetics that its parents had to offer. Even though its parent, White Widow has high levels of THC, this strain inherited a low-to-medium potency. This is an attractive quality for occasional smokers or those who prefer lower levels of THC. Another stand-out feature of this plant is its undeniably sweet aroma that can become mesmerizing.
The THC content of Blueberry White can reach as high as 16 to 17%, but on average it produces around 12 to 15%. This is at or slightly below the average THC content of most strains. So, smoking the strain or consuming it via an edible won't take you down for the count. Instead, the buzz provides a combination of heady and bodily effects. Even with the Indica dominance there's a distinct cerebral high that uplifts and energizes, but the more you inhale, the stronger the physical effects become. So, if you're looking for deep, couch-lock relaxation and a solid night's sleep, you'll need a few more hits. Also, medical patients like to use this strain for nausea, to increase appetite, or to diminish the annoyance of a headache.
The Blueberry mother contributes to this strain's increased yield and faster growth. As such, Blueberry Widow is an excellent plant for those using a sea of green or wanting explosive growth. When grown outdoors, the strain prefers a warm, Mediterranean climate but is able to tolerate cooler conditions and is mold resistant. The plant has an 8 to 9-week flowering cycle and reaches Sativa-like heights when grown outdoors, which can easily exceed 250 cm tall. Growing the Blueberry Widow strain indoors is possible as well, and you can train her to grow to medium heights. During the last few weeks of flowering, the buds can double in size. Finally, the yields are pretty great, producing between 400 to 500 grams per M2.
When you take two outstanding multi-award winning strains and cross them together, the result is bound to be amazing. That's certainly the case with Blueberry Widow. It grows fast and easy in most climates and has the advantage of resisting molds and mildew. Plus, the blueberry and earthy smells are absolutely divine and can fill an entire room. Then you have wonderful effects of a well-balanced hybrid strain. Expect a subtle upbeat euphoria, coupled with a cool and comfortable state of calm, as though you're in a blissful dream.
After curing your buds, the sweet blueberry aromas become even more heavenly. And on your first taste, a sweet and almost sour-like, citrus flavour is most prominent. Then as you release the smoke during your exhale, the soft blueberry notes begin to appear and add to the overall tasting experience. More flavours come through as you continue to smoke and those include notes of fruit, pine, and berries.
