STRAIN TRAITS
Details
CBD Queen was developed by breeding Northern Lights #5, Haze, and the classic medical strain Juanita La Lagrimosa. This combination has created something soothing and beautifully well-balanced. With a 30:70 indica-sativa ratio, this is an excellent calming strain that has earned widespread acclaim among medicinal users.
Strong sativa genetics are inherited from its Haze parentage, with Juanita La Lagrimosa mildly enhancing its THC levels to provide the perfect therapeutic combination of cannabinoids. Its 2:1 CBD-THC ratio is considered perfect for a wide variety of medical purposes, and large yields of around 400-500g/m2 mean it provides ample buds for producing oils and extracts.
Effects
With just 5% THC and around 10% CBD, this strain produces effects that are pleasantly unique. THC levels aren’t sufficient to induce a typical high but do produce a slight elevation in mood. The overwhelming effect is composing: CBD Queen calms your overall emotional state, soothes frayed nerves, and relaxes both mind and body.
Physically, CBD Queen is great at alleviating minor pains, aches, and inflammation. The CBD works well in unison with the THC, the latter providing fast-acting relief while the former gradually takes effect. This strain is also a superb sleep-aid. CBD is known to improve the body’s circadian rhythm, encouraging healthier long-term sleep patterns, while THC is better at inducing quick, instant sleep. The combination in CBD Queen makes it a highly effective treatment for insomnia.
Still, in spite of its relaxing capabilities, low doses of CBD Queen will not induce excessive lethargy. As such, it’s suitable for both daytime and evening use, increasing its versatility as a medical strain.
Growing
CBD Queen is a fairly low-maintenance and highly rewarding strain to grow. Plants possess a good natural resistance to mold, pests, and diseases, and grow well both indoors and outside. Outdoors, they prefer warm and dry climates and will be ready for harvest in early October.
Grown inside, they’ll flower in around 8-10 weeks, sometimes less. Plants tend to yield between 400-500gr/m², though this is a strain that responds particularly well to Low Stress Training. By gently bending and tying down branches to promote more even growth, it’s possible to maximize light and airflow to lower branches and really maximize your yields. This strain grows to heights of around 100-180cm, making indoor cultivation and Low Stress Training viable provided you clear some space.
Appearance & Aroma
CBD Queen’s sativa-dominant leanings are clearly exhibited as it grows. Plants are on the taller side of average, with elongated stems and thin, slender fan leaves. Dense, olive-colored buds form in long conical shapes, contrasting attractively with its emerald leaves. A delicate dusting of trichomes increases this visual appeal, as does a scattering of pastellist orange pistils.
As plants grow, their aroma betrays the Haze and Juanita La Lagrimosa in CBD Queen’s lineage. A classic skunky baseline emerges from the start of the vegetative period, complemented by hints of spiciness. The scent intensifies with increased terpene production during the flowering phase, developing notes that are citrusy and sometimes metallic. The combination is rich and extremely pungent.
