Originating from Columbian and Mexican parents with some Afghan and Thai genetics, this strain was created in 1992 by master breeders Serious Seeds. AK47 has won several consecutive High Times Cannabis Cup Awards since the mid-1990s and shows no signs of slowing down.
Effects
AK 47 delivers a strong, potent stone. Because of its high THC content, up to 22%, it’s not a strain for first-time cannabis smokers. Actually, the high percentage of THC makes it a perfect option for medical users. This Sativa-dominant strain brings on feelings of happiness, euphoria, and gentle relaxation. Growing
This stain is relatively easy to grow and has a short flowering time of 8 to 10 weeks. It’s suitable for growing indoors and outdoors, but be aware that the growing odor is strong. So, if you’re growing indoors take the proper precautions to minimize the smell using a carbon filter and odor neutralizers. Given the short flowering time, you can easily grow AK47 outdoors even if you live in a cooler climate, because it’s ready for harvest in late September. Expect to see lush green growth, dense nugs, with small narrow sugar leaves. There’s very little stretching once the flowing cycle begins, and the plants reach medium height.
Appearance & Aroma
The buds on AK47 are dense and surrounded by small narrow leaves that you can trim away and use as shake to make delicious and potent edibles. The leaves are a bright lush green color and it’s not unusual to see the nugs covered in a thick coat of golden trichomes. You’ll smell strong and pungent aromas during the growth cycle and sour and earthy aromas after curing the plants.
